Midco: New Franchise Agreement (2025)
Midcontinent Communications (Midco) has been granted authorization from the Lake Minnetonka Communications Commission (LMCC) to construct and operate a state-of-the-art telecommunications system within city limits of the 11 LMCC communities. Midco initiated this franchise application process with the Commission during 2024.
The proposed fiber network build out will provide advanced technology service offerings, including fiber internet and internet protocol television (IPTV) to residents and businesses in the Lake Minnetonka Communications Commission area.
The LMCC is excited about this opportunity to bring Midco’s smooth and reliable fiber network technology to all of the Lake Minnetonka Communication Commission's cities. Midco is looking forward to working cooperatively with commission leadership and are happy to respond to any questions or provide any additional information that's required.
Midco has already begun work on a very ambitious buildout program that will see their fiber-based cable television and other related products (such as internet) become available to residents in all 11 of our member cities by the end of 2026.
Shorewood, Independence and Loretto will be completed by the end of 2025. If the conditions allow and they make progress, Midco would also look to start additional communities before the end of 2025. Midco also plans on overbuilding Mediacom's system in all of our member cities as well.
This is very exciting and will provide the residents of our member city communities with multiple choices when it comes to choosing their cable TV provider!
